Little Spud

Here is our first pic of little spud....no too much to look at (and the pics a little blurry because I took it with my phone) but the black spot in the middle of all the blob is the heart! This is where we saw the quick little flutters this past Friday.

As for an explanation as how baby Spud earned it's name- My father and Will kept saying "HE this..." and "HE that" while my mother and sister kept saying "SHE this" and "She that" Will was getting frustrated by the "SHE" suggestions so I finally said OK just call it "IT" upon which everyone replied that that was mean and that we must come up with a different name.....

Since the only thing I seem to be able to eat without gagging lately is potatoes .... We ended up with Baby Spud! Not the most glamorous name but I guess we can change it to Stud or French Fry (the only girly potato reference I could think of) when we find out more!

And BABY makes 5!

Maybe its wrong?.... NOPE THEY CANT ALL BE WRONG !!

OK FROM THE BEGINNING...
on May 12th the day I usually get a visit from the dreaded "aunt", I was feeling a little off and knew something was up. I had hoped that maybe after I got home from work she would show... NOPE.... (if any male is reading this... SORRY) So I called my sister who was working til 8 and asked if she cold bring me a test when she got off work, in hopes that I would not have to bring this up to Will until completely necessary. For those of you who know Will as Mr. Calm, Cool & Collected.... that's not entirely the case!

Anyways, so my sister gets there and tells Will that shes just there dropping off a piece of tile for me to decorate and we quickly hurry to the back.... the first result was positive after Kerri shook it vigorously... which is when I begin to have a meltdown and she is jumping for joy (I wanted to hit her).

She notices quickly that I am not sharing her excitement and says "Well I did shake it and the box says not to do that, so take another, maybe I messed it up." So, I took another.... 2 LINES AGAIN...

At this point she starts planning the next ten years of my child's life and is so excited she can hardly stand while I am silently repeating "oh,crap-oh,crap-oh,crap" Then she says "What are you going to say to Will?" AGGGGGGGGGHHHHH! I forgot about him ! He's sitting in the living room watching the Braves game completely content. I end all discussion with Kerri and say you gotta leave! (Thank God she loves me so much bc I just used her for the tests and threw her out! What are sisters for anyways :p )

So I go into the living room and sit down and Will decides all of the sudden to get up and go wash dishes (a phenomenon I would not usually protest) So I said "hey can you come back over here and sit down?" He then follows with "Well I just got up to wash the dishes..." at this point I just want to break the news so I say (not very nice) "JUST COME HERE!" and the pullout one of the tests....

This is where I wished I had a video camera...

As soon as I pulled it out to show him he covered his eyes... and said "ahhhh, what am I looking at here" in his nervous tone. I said "JUST LOOK" and then beads of sweat started pouring down his face.

We then decided to go buy more tests at 10 pm just to make sure the first brand didn't have a defect.
After the FOURTH Positive, we surrendered......

I have been to one doctors appointment to confirm the pregnancy in which she said was the fastest result she'd ever seen.... and then began overwhelming me with things I cant have and do.....

We are now past the shock and EXCITED. This was definitely a surprise, and a little soon but we are excited and scared out of our minds all at the same time!

We went to the doctor again today for an ultrasound and to see the heartbeat!! Pretty cool! Everything is looking good !

13.1

Will ran the half marathon this weekend and did a great job (finishing around 2:09:00) . I was a bad wife and wasn't there to watch bc I was on the Gallatin square trying to battle the weather. Im upset that these are the only pics we have... well we could have more if after paying $100.00 to be in the race they didn't expect you to pay another $100 for pics of yourself... bummer ! Anyways, GOOD JOB WILL!

Spring is springing !

Will and I have been working in the yard every free minute we have for the past three days and the sight of new green has me anticipating all of the new blooms and I cant hardly wait til we see all the new color !

Here are a few pics, I took them when it was already dark so they're not that great but here's a sample of our early signs of spring. I will post more when they start to bloom !

These are my new planters from the Easter Bunny ! LOVE THEM ! Im sure Ill love them even more with plants in them. hopefully this weekend we can make that happen.

this is a birdhouse that my Dad made for me out of an old guord he had left in the garden. I gave it a little pzaaz :)

And my shepards hook with the empty pots that will hopefully be filled along with the planters on the porch this weekend. I love the butterfly.... Will is not so keen on it but he let it slide.

Update from Haiti

I just got off the phone with my dad in Haiti, he is actually working on a church in Jordan where the devastation, although terrible, was not a result of the earthquake. My dad gave me a quick rundown on his first days there and I can tell that he is exhausted from what he has seen but seems to be in good spirits. He said when they got off the plain (which he described the landing as a crashing stop) in Porter Prince there were people lined up for miles trying to grab their things in hopes of earning a little pocket change for their services, they then traveled by bus (mor like a covered wagon to us) where they drove over the rubble that still covers over 300,000 missing bodies, he said that this was guaranteed to be the worst thing he has ever experienced. When they arrived in Jordan the place they were suppose to be staying was no longer available so their guard (Doodo "yes doo-doo") who is at all times armed with a shotgun (although my dad said he could very well be one of the largest most intimidating teddy bears hes ever met) had to search for them a place to stay. After settling in they were immediately thrown into work. He said it is extremely hot (thinks the actual term should be "hotter than Haiti") and that 3 of them have already had to have i.v.'s administered for dehydration, and in addition are all very sunburned.
In these first 2 days he has seen more naked people than hes ever seen, he said people will just strip down five feet away from you, a Hatian who is working with them cut his arm to the bone with a machete, farm animals roaming in droves throughout the city, people acting as if theyve seen a ghost at the first sight of a power tool :) , and a shower that operates from a bucket (that has collected water thoughout the days on the roof) that is tipped over and runs through a pipe and there you have it!
Amidst all of the negative he said the highlight of his day was when a little boy, living in the church, that had been helping them work all day without speaking (language barrier) went outside about 15 minutes after dad gave him a stick of gum returned with a bouquet of olive branches as a thank you. He said that perhaps the saddest thing are the truly kind people that he has encountered (a man begging him to teach him electrical skills so that he can continue the work after they leave & and 25 year old who exchanged email addresses with him in hopes of one day traveleing to America to become a singer) living among such hatred and anger. He said that its amazing to be in a place with so much evil and ill will and come across people who still carry out good will and have the ability to look toward the future.
All in all he said the devastation compared to what we have seen on TV is undoubtedly  1000 times worse and that we have NO idea what its really like over there with no government, no shelter, a 2 hour travel for clean water, rotating power surges...ect. Whew, ok and thats all I got throughout our 4 dropped and returned phone calls. Please keep them all in your prayers, but maybe 1 extra for my dad :) I know God is going to watch over them and do such great work through them.

Happy 50th Dad!

Ok so I know I have been very neglectful of this blog lately, in my defense Ive been trying to keep up with 2! This post however is for my dad. My dad turned 50 this week and we celebrated by having a nice family dinner (he would have murdered us all if any grand gesture was made). He is leaving for Haiti in a few weeks to go and volunteer his electrical services to build an orphanage, and although the details are quite scary, I think he is excited. I cant wait till he gets back and shares the wonderful experience that he had. I will share photos when he returns.... I'm kind of jealous bc I want to go but I dont know how much assistance I would offer in building anything but I can get pretty crazy with some sidewalk chalk... I know, no help at all :)

Thanks for spending the past 25 years being a great dad!
