25 Weeks, Yay we're past the 6th month mark !!

I get email updates once a week and enjoy seeing how he has developed so I thought I'd share this week.

What's new with baby Nolan...
Your baby now weighs nearly 1 1/2 pounds and is about 35cm long from crown to heel. He's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more like a newborn. His senses are becoming more sophisticated, too. At 26 weeks, fetal brain scans show response to touch. If you shine a light on your belly, your baby will turn his head, which means his optic nerve is working.

What's new with me...
I am really starting to see things protrude... like really (see for yourself below!). For the most part I feel great. I am becoming increasingly more irritable and less tolerant of stupidity (there's no better way to put it). My biggest irritant is this lady at work who is about 70-80 yrs old and she had hearing like a ninja... no joke... I generally try to avoid her home remedies and personal birthing stories by passing by her desk without stopping but as I said her superhero hearing allows her to hone in on any conversation I have in the office (with OTHER PEOPLE) at which point she comes barreling down the hallway to give her two cents when she should be at her desk answering phones (can you sense the frustration?)!

please excuse the dogs head that appears to be coming out of my butt...

On a lighter note (now that I've let the hormones rage for a bit), my animals appear to have changed their rebellious ways. No peeing on my couch or bed this week, only outside, woohoo! They still have to be right on top of me where ever I go, I have been sleeping in a Beckett and Hootie sandwich for about a week now but I'll take that over the destruction any day of the week!

We added a few things to Nolan's room too! I am waiting on my pictures that I ordered to come in but here are the minor additions since the last Nursery update.

I ordered a crib sheet so I could see what the true colors were going to be... Now I REALLY can't wait to get my bedding !

This is my bedding !!

And a few more additions ... yes MORE CLOTHES !

And here is Beckett checking out the toy basket, I can see this will be an issue. I think we're going to have to put a seperate toy basket in here that is just for Becks.

and yes, a new curtain !

Please excuse the crappy photos too, my mom stole my good camera (it's her's) and so I got stuck with my shoddy digital :( .

Six Months Today!! But let's turn our focus for a moment...

MY ANIMALS HAVE GONE CRAZY

OK, I do love my animals and I know that some may have glanced at a few photos here and there and though "jeeze, that girl is crazy" because of some of the things I do for my pets but let me just say...

WE ...

HAVE CREATED...

Excuse the blurry cell pic

MONSTERS !!!

My house has officially been taken over by two of the worst behaved animals EVER! Can they really tell that a change is coming !? That is all I can think that would cause such dramatic displays from these two! I'll be the first to admit my animals definitely have attitude (if you're a friend of mine you can quit nodding & eye rolling, you know you love them both :P ) but attitude doesn't come near to describing the ambush these two have unleashed on Will and I.

Hootie's Issues

Hootie has always been more passive than Beckett (let's admit cats are just easier) other than her few items that she vocally requests daily, she's a piece of cake... until now.

She now starts screaming every morning around 6:30 am for food, attention, she wants inside, she wants outside and she is picking fights with the neighborhood cats.  If you walk away from her before she's feels shes gotten enough attention.... SHE BITES! She's 8 years old ... so its not the terrible twos!

Beckett's Issues

Beckett has been difficult but loving since the day we brought her home... she is a Beagle and we were warned about barking and potty training but is hasn't been anything we couldn't handle
 (after replacing a few rugs).

My dog has now reverted back to the puppy stage... she uses the bathroom all over the place... including my $2,700 Leather Couch (this just happened last night) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She also likes to take anything that's not nailed down and drag it under my bed (where, lets get real, this preggo can no longer fit) and shred it into a million pieces! I'm so frustrated! I feel that her revolt is a little more direct as she takes any opportunity she can to sprint up to Nolan's room, wait until we run up after her, and then look at us in the eyes ... and squat (yes, it's that malicious)!

I'm at my whits end with these two, What do I do? Did anyone else's sweet four legged children turn into terrorist while they were pregnant? Are there any suggestions!? I think it's too late for the dog/cat whisperer, I'm about ready to stage an EXORCISM!

Keep your eyes open to the classifieds for these two!

Baby Update !

I went to the doctor today and got to hear Nolan's heartbeat in between his flips and kicks!

Nolan's Heart Rate: 144

My BP: It was great, but that's all I remember her saying about mine.

Weight gain: 8 lbs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but I was on a different scale that they said weighed about 2lbs heavier than my Dr's, So I'm only counting 6lbs!) That puts me at a total weight gain of 15 lbs, I guess I'll cut out some of the ice cream but its SO GOOD !

I'm a little perturbed by the weight gain, I don't feel like Ive been pigging out or anything but I must admit there is a daily grab for the sweets. I suppose that's going to have to SLOW DOWN!

New feelings: CONTRACTIONS! Yes, for all of my friends I texted to see if what I was feeling was normal the other day... yes it was kind of normal but that's what it was !!!! She also said standing on my head to alleviate some of the pain was not recommended, so I guess it's on to plan B! Don't panic they are not often or severe, she just said to take a chill pill when they are happening (easier said than done!).

I have really started feeling the kicks and squirms but because my placenta is in the front everyone else will have to wait a bit longer to feel it... that's right this is still a  Hands Off zone( I don't like to be touched & I realize that when he starts really moving I will have to suck it up because  it's going to happen regardless but I literally hold my breath when someone reaches out for a feel)!

This may be something I need to invest in !

I think that's all for now. I have to do the nasty glucose test next time I go back and I will find out about how large they think this little guy is going to be (better be 8lbs or under is all I have to say!).

Family and Friends that want to love on Nolan when he gets here, PLEASE GET A FLU SHOT!!!

The Gift of Paper

Will and I celebrated our anniversary by revisiting the Hermitage Hotel where we stayed on our wedding night and we dined at Capitol Grille (YUM!). I was glad I had on a maternity dress this night because even if I wasn't preggo I would have looked it after that dinner!

In the spirit of the first years gift being paper I took the easy road and of course went for tickets...

Yes that does say Game 7 -Titans vs. Colts!

Will got a little more creative and made Oragami Roses (with a hidden Spa Gift Card).. Just when you think he's out of surprises...
Goody To-Do's may have to hire him ! :)

And we finished off the weekend with some year old cake! Never thought we would be sharing it with our first child, but I must admit that's kinda cool!

This poor cake has seen better days !

365 Days Later....

Will and I are approaching our one year anniversary this Sunday and I can't help but look back at this past year and think about what all we have endured, accomplished and learned. You always hear "the first year is the hardest" and I was always skeptical that this would be a reality that Will and I would deal with since we were together for 7 years before we married I just assumed that we had FINALLY reached the finish line once the "I Do's" were exchanged...
 HAHA!

Unfortunately I must say that "the first year is the hardest" is something we mentioned to each other on various occasions throughout our first year of wedded bliss, I could possibly even say it became  our 'motto". I guess I always thought that when people said that it was with the connotation that our relationship would struggle and go through its hardest time through the first year so I didn't believe it. Will and I have always been able to remove our relationship during arguments... like it would just be set up on a shelf so we could battle it out and then we were finished the relationship was still there... same as ever, I guess that's why its good to marry your best friend! I think the motto should be "the first year is the most stressful". In your first year you become on your own "for REAL" and its hard...I remember calling my parents the first time something broke that was going to cost a fortune and my dad's exact words were "Better save up !" I still cringe when I think about that saying, but that's what is so hard, just figuring everything out. I think God makes your marriage tough in the first year so  you know what you're made of... almost like training for a marathon. We have encountered quite a bit in the past year...
-Dead AC unit
-More home repairs than you can imagine
-New pet
-Sick pet
-Emergency room visits (MONSTER DEDUCTIBLE)
-BABY on the way
-Job stress
-Car repairs
-New Business ventures
-Job changes
and many more.

I am thankful that we had good starting tools and coaches as we entered into our marriage as it was always in the back of my mind every time something came up and for parents that know tough love, and when to step in when things are too tough!

I think after a year we just say... We will figure it out, because up to this point that's worked!!

Through it all I realized those vows we said (that I didn't remember all of on August 30th 2009) were said for a REASON, and every word was true, and means more today than it did then, as I'm sure it will mean more in 10 years than it does now.

Exchanging of Vows and Rings:

Will and Candace - the Bible has much to say about marriage – directly and indirectly. The very first people of creation were brought together by God who saw that is was not good for man to be alone. Eve was created to be Adam’s companion and his helper in all things. Jesus performed his first miracle at a wedding. Some of his most famous parables flow out of the context of marriage.

As you stand here this evening – it is your desire that this time of worship not only reflect your commitment to one another but your individual and shared commitment to Christ. Marriage is the clasping of hands – the blending of hearts – the union of two lives becoming one. This marriage will stand by the strength of your love and the power of the faith you have in one another and God.

I want to ask you to turn and face one another now.

Will would you please take Candace’s hands, and hold them palms up, so that you may see them for the gift which they are to you. These are the hands of your best friend – smooth – young – and carefree which are holding yours on this wedding day as she pledges her love to you for all the days of her life. These are the hands, which will hold your children in tender love, soothing them through illness and hurt, supporting and encouraging them along the way and knowing when its time to let go. These are the hands which will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times – they are the hands which will comfort you when you are sick and will console you when you grieve. These are the hands, which will passionately love you and cherish you through all the years for a lifetime of happiness. These same hands will support you as you pursue your dreams of all that God has enabled you to be and to become. Together, as a team, her hands in yours, your wishes will be realized.

Will, repeat after me:

I, Will, take you Candace, to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love.

I will cherish our friendship and love you today – tomorrow – and forever.

I will trust and honor you

I will laugh with you and cry with you.

I will love you faithfully

Through the best and the worst,

Through the difficult and the easy.

What may come I will always be there.

As I have given you my hand to hold

So I give you my life to keep

By the grace of God.
Candace please take Will’s hands and hold them palms up so that you may see them for the gift that which they are to you. These are the hands of your best friend. They are young and strong and vibrant with love - these hands, which are resting in yours on this your wedding day, are the hands of the one that is promising to love you for all the remaining days of your life. These are the hands which will work along side you and will build your future, as you laugh and cry as you share your innermost secrets and dreams. These hands will work long hours for you and your family and they are the hands which will passionately love and cherish you throughout the years – the same hands will wipe away tears of sorrow and tears of joy from your eyes. These are the hands which will comfort you in times of illness and which will hold you when grief intrudes your home. These are the hands, which will tenderly lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into his eyes – eyes that will be filled with passion for you.

Candace, repeat after me:
I, Candace, take you Will, to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love.

Rings
The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace, signifying to all the uniting of this man and woman in holy matrimony.
The ring is a material symbol that has been designed to illustrate a spiritual truth.
A ring has two characteristics which make it suitable as a reminder to us of the importance of keeping Christ in our marriages.
First, the ring is a circle. Circles never end. Christian marriages should never end. Difficult times come, but the commitment of Christians is to make their marriage go on forever. The circular ring is a reminder of that never-ending commitment.
Also, rings are made out of a precious metal, usually platinum or gold, which has the unusual quality of getting better and more valuable with age. Instead of wearing out and deteriorating, we pray for your love to grow and improve with age.
Pastor: Will and Candace,

Do you have the tokens of the sincerity of these vows?

Pastor to Groom: As you place the ring on the finger of your bride, repeat after me. I give you this ring, as a promise of keeping my vows, and loving you today, tomorrow, and as long as we shall live. In Jesus name, amen.
Pastor to Bride: As you place the ring on the finger of your groom, repeat after me. I give you this ring, as a promise of keeping my vows, and loving you today, tomorrow, and as long as we shall live. In Jesus name, amen.
Pastor: The rings that are on your hands are like strings on your fingers. They remind you of something.

Every time that you see your wedding ring, you will be reminded of the commitment that you have made here today and that your love is a perfect gift from God to one another. Your love is made stronger each day through the commitment God has instilled in your hearts for one another.

Happy Anniversary Will... ready for year 2!
